Even in the midst of all the Olympics fever we can’t miss our chance for Face off. This week our artists go to downtown LA and into a warehouse where they find some scary shadow creatures along with the guest judge for the week Oren Peli. The artists must use the shadows on the wall to be the basis of the scary super natural creatures that they will make this week be they bug like or demon.
As always time starts to become an issue almost right from the start and some Artists are getting nervous about the time that they have. There are some who feel comfortable as long as nothing goes wrong that time is going pretty well so far, Daran and George seem pretty comfortable. Corrine starts having some issues getting her mold apart and she knows if she doesn’t a lot of the work she just did will be for nothing. She chooses to walk away from the mold and start going with something else as fast as she can to make the right silhouette for her makeup.
The work on this weeks monsters over all was something to behold most of the artists really seem to be falling into a groove and really turning out some amazing works. Many of the color choices were dark and some such as Cat and Tyler and Rashaad’s could be pulled into every day looks using the same colors in a less creepy but still very gothic way. Some make ups went very big and some went smaller but all of them brought the creepy factor, so what did the judges think?
The judges did not understand Daran’s make up at all the mouth that he put on the back did not read as a back and did not come off as supernatural to them at all. While on the other hand they loved Niko’s make up, agreeing it was scary but also beautiful in the way that he worked with his makeup and made a creature that fit his shadow. Tanner got some major issues and comments on how bad his horns were, the missing pieces and his overall bad choices in how to make his character look old as well. While there can be safe, favorite and not there can only be one winner and loser, so who did the judges pick this week? The winner was Niko and sadly it was Tanner who got sent home because of all the issues with his character.
