Games of Thrones 32 The Lion and The Rose

Another Sunday is upon us and it is time to see how the fight for the Iron throne carries on. We come upon another twisted game in the woods this week where Theon now in his slave role is chasing along with those who have him hunting a girl, with bow and dogs, this about sums up the way things seem to be shaping up for many in the game. Meanwhile in Kings landing Tyrion has a fairly good moment with Jamie and he encourages his Brother to train, with a discreet man to strengthen his weaker but remaining hand. It is nice to see them bonding even if it is over a misfortune and about protecting the worlds least favorite Royal.

We have some more drama stirring up in the camp of those who hold Theon, they will now be hunting down Bran and Jon one can’t help but wish them luck in that venture with a I hope you fail air. Again in Kings landing we must spend time with the King everyone hates, he is having a breakfast where he is being given gifts and being a brat as usual, including hacking apart a good portion of things with the new sword he has been given right down to reminding everyone present including Sansa about how Ned Starks head was cut off. The rest of Tyrion’s family finds out about Shae forcing him to break with her in a cruel manner, while sending her away to safety in a home that will be comfortable and safe across the narrow sea. It is a scene that is hard to watch but you can understand why he feels he must do it, Shae would surely be killed or used as a pawn against him.

Melisandre is up to the usual with her King and Queen, burning people alive for their fire God. You can’t help but feel that story line has gotten a little bit convoluted and it is not one that tends to hold the attention when the show focuses on it, alas we can only hope it becomes important again. Bran and his party are making their way and he is getting better at communing with his wolf, hunting to the point where he seems to be spending more time within her then himself.

In Kings landing Joffrey finally takes his bride in a ceremony fit for the Royals, with Sansa commenting “we have a new Queen,”, to which Tyrion comments “Better her then you.” , knowing what we know of the King a truer statement has never been spoken. The wedding feast is a lavish and lovely affair as you would expect with Joffrey and most of his family looking sullen and bored, as usual Margaery is a light and makes a lovely announcement and handles when Brienne comes to wish them congratulations. Cersei is in perfect form insulting everyone as she goes, undoing things the new Queen as she has said, and just being herself as usual. Her Son continues this when he announces there have been too many amusements and they must look at their history bringing dwarves out as the five Kings showing the killings again in a rude and parody way, not everyone finds it as amusing as the King. After some tense moments over a cup and wine King Joffrey tries to get his Uncle to kneel, it fails and we clearly see he needs to take some lessons in how to say Kneel like Loki. After the pie is eaten and more wine brought the moment we have all been waiting for, that big moment the King begins to choke and then vomit, Jamie runs to the rescue but alas no one but maybe his Mom and Dad care as evil King Joffrey dies with blood streaming out of his nose. Cersei of course right away blames Tyrion and that is all we get this week. Surely I can’t be the only one cheering the death of this King?
