I don’t know how I feel about Jay Z hiring Zombie Boy as the new face of his urban clothing line, Rocawear, for the Spring/Summer 2013 season. In a distinct departure from the usual hip hop or rap star who typically poses for the line of urban inspired clothes, Rick Genest aka “Zombie Boy”, the sideshow attraction turned star of Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way” music video, can now add Rocowear front man to his resume. While I dig the idea that someone who literally ran away to join the circus, under the moniker “Rico the Zombie”, has found a way to make it big, and that he has almost 90% of his entire body tattooed, I’m not convinced that this isn’t a vain grasp into the pockets of the industrial culture. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not sold on the idea of wearing the same clothes once sported by Eminem.
