Face Off Season 6 Episode 3

It is time for Face off again and this week there be dragons! The artists are told that not only will they be working with dragons that spit things other than fire, but that it will be their very first individual challenge. There are a lot of reactions and many of them are not positive because it is such a big project to do for your first challenge but that is one of the things that makes face off.

After sketch time and when it is time to go back to the lab everyone dives into work and gets busy. Tess however is the first to fall behind and she knows it when she only sculpts one side of her characters face and not the other. Matching up the sides when working in clay is going to make for a larger job. She is not the only one however as some of the others start to feel pressed for time as things go on, this is of course typical in the word of face off.

While some might not have been sure about the individual challenge at first many seem to be coming into their own and we are seeing all the techniques used with this first day. Sculpt, mold, vacuform and just regular fabricating as well. By the time application day comes there is everything across the board for behind to not behind. Many seem to be making great use of their time getting slime applied; paint is going down fast and are loving how their dragon is coming together. Meanwhile others are falling behind with rips, tears; make up not getting done and hair not getting settled along with no quill applications as the whole group heads out for last looks. Sadly some of the drama carries over into last looks; Tess out right says her creature sucks and Chloe hates hers, and honestly it does look the worst overall.

As you would expect many of the dragons use red colors but there is also a lot of greens, purples, whites and blues. Many of the makeup pallets used I think could be brought into a more every day Gothic look. The frozen themed paint job really stood out to me as one that would make a great casual day time look especially right now with it being so cold out everywhere. So if you are thinking about some new makeup ideas give these looks a try, they can be scaled down from the creatures very easily.

In the end color use and artists thoughts aside, what do the judges think? After watching the reveals and checking the up-close which included removing the hood that Chloe used to hide some of her creature they have their say. Well Niko, Tess and Daniel hit the bottom looks with the judges having a go and lack of showing what the dragons were about and the paint and sculpt. While George, Tyler, and Rashaad make the top looks with Tyler getting big compliments on everything from the wings to the ice that he made. So who was the top look and who went home? This week it was Daniel who was sent home with just not even really making a dragon for how the judges felt. While Tyler’s fantastic design gets him the win.
